ABOUT ADERONKE OMO DAIRO INITIATIVE
ADERONKE OMO DAIRO FOUNDATION
Aderonke Omo Dairo Foundation (AOD) is an NGO established with a vision to support the vulnerable people in the society. The Foundation tackles the prevalent issue of rape, provide support for single mothers, widows and unemployed youths. It seeks to change the negative African narrative concerning widows and to seek a drastic reduction in the poverty level of the people living in Ibadan, Oyo State.
AOD Foundation is the brainchild of Aderonke Connor (Nee Dairo), a seasoned health professional and advocate who has a wealth of experience in health, training, and youth work in the voluntary and charitable sector. Having established and run another NGO (Only in Nigeria Foundation) which provides support to adolescent girls and vulnerable children in Nigeria for over 7 years, Aderonke thought it was time she gave back directly to the community where she had her childhood. Her training as a Health practitioner who is settled in the United Kingdom has equipped her adequately to ensure the goal of the Foundation is achieved and lasting happiness brought to various families in need.
Over six years, AOD Foundation has focused more on health checks, sexual health talks in various schools in Ibadan, and advocacy (championing stricter punishment for rapists in Oyo State). Various empowerment and support are also being provided to women to ensure that their standard of living is raised. It is our belief that helping the girl child or women in whatever form will shorten our route to achieving a higher standard of living in our immediate society as any support given usually have a knock-on effect on the community as a whole.
